Garden seeds retail at Foodinsurance.com for $79.99 so it works out to be a decent deal. Foodinsurance.com claims:
The Garden Seeds bucket is the perfect solution for long-term emergency preparedness. The seeds will last 5 years under normal conditions, and can last up to 20 years if stored in very cool conditions. All seeds are non-hybrid meaning you can replant the seeds of each harvest. There are enough seeds for one acre, with 50 foot rows of each vegetable.
Having worked with emergency seeds in the past, we can tell you that the claim the seeds can last up to 20 years is quite generous. It’s best to keep the seeds in your refrigerator for the longest possible shelf life. Even then it would be difficult to rely on them for more than 10 years.
But hey, it’s a great thing to have in case of an emergency. Just remember to also have some ready-to-eat food storage at your disposal. It does take 3-5 months and good weather conditions to ever get food from a garden.
